Main Campus

The main campus at Habsiguda was established in 1987 as the first independent campus of CCMB. The work in this campus focuses on exploratory research on fundamental questions in biology. It also houses many centralised research facilities that are accessible for use to researchers across the country.

Annexe-I (LaCONES)

The Laboratory for Conservation of Endangered Species (LaCONES) was established in 2000 at Attapur as CCMB’s first annexe lab. Scientists at LaCONES study ecology and wildlife behaviour, and develop advanced molecular biology tools for wildlife conservation. It also houses the National Genetic Resource Bank Facility to collect and store genetic material from deceased animals in zoos of different parts of the country.

Annexe-II (Medical Biotechnology Complex)

The Medical Biotechnology Complex at Uppal was established as CCMB’s second annexe lab in 2015. This lab is dedicated to technology development by scientists at CCMB and start-up companies. It currently supports more than 20 start-ups engaged in different sectors of life sciences, housed in the Common Research and Technology Development Hub (CRTDH), the Atal Incubation Centre-CCMB (AIC-CCMB) and the Meity Startup Hub. It is also the location of CCMB’s molecular and chromosomal diagnostic facilities, and is the venue for many of the skill development programs conducted by CCMB.
