3 rd Mar, 2023, Hyderabad: The leadership and members of European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), headquartered in Heidelberg, Germany visited CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad as a part of their multi-city trip to India.
EMBO is an organization of more than 1,900 leading researchers that promotes excellence in the life sciences in Europe and beyond. India is one of their associate states beyond Europe. The major goals of the EMBO are to support talented researchers at all stages of their careers, stimulate the exchange of scientific information, and help build a research environment where scientists can achieve their best work.
In their visit to CCMB, four scientists pursuing research in cutting-edge biological questions delivered talks to the early career researchers and the EMBO staff offered workshop on scientific communication. The EMBO leadership explored the possibilities of how EMBO can reach out to the life scientists of India better. “India is a major contributor to the work of EMBO. Over the past week, three teams of EMBO staff have visited nine cities here, and have learned a lot about the kind of support we can provide the early career researchers. It has been a delight to visit the vibrant research community of Hyderabad. The infrastructure and support to life science research are really impressive,” said Prof Fiona Watt, Director, EMBO.
“With partners like EMBO, scientists across the world come together for a common cause. It is fortunate that EMBO and India are looking at expanding the scope of their partnership. I am sure this will enable fruitful scientific discourses and training programs between Europe and other EMBO states,” said Dr Vinay Nandicoori, Director, CCMB.
