Researchers at the CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad, have developed a method to assess the total biodiversity of any ecosystem by sequencing the DNA fragments found in the area.
Dr G Umapathy, Senior Principal Scientist and Group Leader at the CCMB, said that a new breakthrough method to measure the biodiversity of all life forms in an ecosystem using environmental DNA has been developed at the Laboratory for the Conservation of Endangered Species (LaCONES) at the CCMB.
